Brisbane City Council February 2010 was Australia’s first municipality to introduce Cardia Bioplastic’s biodegradable waste collection bags – specifically designed for the environmentally friendly disposal of dog poo.
Two million bags were placed in all parks and gardens throughout the shire, in an initiative to clean up the state, and set an environmental benchmark for hundreds of other councils around the country.
Cardia’s revolutionary bags are made from cornstarch and are designed to disintegrate within 3 months and convert back to CO2 and water within 6 months under industrial composting conditions.
Queensland is leading Australia – the potential is for millions of these bags to be distributed in parks right across the country.
